Data Storytelling in Action: The Impact of Health Plan PCP Auto-assignment on Provider VBP Performance

DESCRIPTION:

Maximizing performance on value-based contracts requires paying close attention to not just clinical workflows and patient care but many different types of data. In this webinar, you'll learn how Valleywise Health discovered several data issues that were artificially suppressing their value-based performance and how they leveraged internal and external partnerships to resolve them.

SPEAKER:

Stefanie Turner, MHI   |   Director of Value-Based Contract Performance   |   Valleywise Health

Stefanie Turner specializes in complex problem-solving and in translating between clinical and data teams.  Focused on healthcare administration since 2007, she has worked in project management, data analysis, strategic planning, and performance improvement for Arizona’s Medicaid managed care organizations, ACOs and provider groups in the region. Since 2021, Stefanie has served as Program Manager for VALUE-BASED Care at Valleywise Health, working to correct several previously undetected data issues in both provider and payer data that are artificially suppressing Valleywise’s performance on HEDIS quality measures.

OBJECTIVES: 

  1. Participants will understand the PCP auto-assignment process for AHCCCS-contracted health plans  
  2. Participants will understand the effect of PCP auto-assignment on provider HEDIS performance in VBP contracts 
  3. Participants will be equipped to compare a provider's established patients with patients who have been auto-assigned to the provider by a health plan’s auto-assignment process 
  4. Participants will learn how to break a problem down into questions that can be answered by data 
  5. Participants will be prepared to use data storytelling to engage stakeholders in solving a problem
