“Stop Falling Down”: The SPOT Patient Fall Prevention Program

COST: FREE event for members of AzAHQ, FAHQ, MAHQ, NEAHQ, NCAHQ, OAHQ, OrAHQ, TGCAHQ, and UAHQ.
Non-members: $35.
DESCRIPTION: Designed and implemented to reduce patient falls and related injuries, the S.P.O.T. program’s basic pillars of Safety, Prevention, Observation, and Teamwork apply to most other performance improvement activities. With concrete examples, participants will come away from this webinar with the ability to apply
demonstrated methodologies for strengthening their
own safety culture.
SPEAKERS: Terry R. Winemiller, BSN, RN, CPHQ, Senior Performance Improvement RN for Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety | University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
- Participants will be able to recite the basic pillars of the S.P.O.T. patient fall prevention program: Safety, Prevention, Observation and Teamwork.
- Participants will be able to define culture of safety as it applies to a health care facility.
- Participants will be able to describe the characteristics of a strong culture of safety.
- Participants will be able to apply methodologies for assessing and strengthening culture of safety.
- Participants will be able to compare and contrast reactive and proactive prevention strategy.
