“Stop Falling Down”: The SPOT Patient Fall Prevention Program

COST:  FREE event for members of AzAHQ, FAHQ, MAHQ, NEAHQ, NCAHQ, OAHQ, OrAHQ, TGCAHQ, and UAHQ.
             Non-members: $35.        Discount code not required.

DESCRIPTION: This presentation will provide an overview of the Stroke STANSE Team and the transformation of stroke care for the TriHealth System in Cincinnati, Ohio. This transformation was possible due to the implementation of Telestroke Services to all six hospitals within the organization.

SPEAKER: Terry R. Winemiller, BSN, RN, CPHQ, is the Senior Performance Improvement RN for Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio 

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  • Participants will be able to recite the basic pillars of the S.P.O.T. patient fall prevention program: Safety, Prevention, Observation and Teamwork.
  • Participants will be able to define the culture of safety as it applies to a healthcare facility.
  • Participants will be able to describe the characteristics of a strong culture of safety.
  • Participants will be able to apply methodologies for assessing and strengthening culture of safety.
  • Participants will be able to compare and contrast reactive and proactive prevention strategy.

CEU: submitted for approval by NAHQ for 1.0 hours of CPHQ CE credit.
