Risk, and Quality Roles Held by One Leader

DESCRIPTION: In healthcare and other regulated industries, maintaining a clear delineation between compliance, risk management, quality/patient safety, and the in-house legal department is crucial. While these functions serve distinct purposes, their collaboration is essential to ensure a holistic and effective approach to organizational integrity and patient care.

SPEAKERS: Linda Weirauch, MSN, RN, CPHQ, LSSGB      and      Julie Janeway, MSA, JD

OBJECTIVES:

1. Participants will be able to explain and understand the roles and purposes of Compliance, Risk Management, Quality, Patient Safety and Legal

2. Attendees will be able to summarize and recognize the inherent conflicts of interest in the compliance, risk management, and quality/patient

safety leadership roles.

3. Attendees will be able to recognize and summarize the need for their separation and assignment to separate individuals

4. Participants will be able to describe and prevent the potential and probable negative effects when these roles are the responsibility of one

person.

5. Attendees will assess their own organizations to ensure prevention strategies are in place to avoid these potentially negative issues

CEU: This activity/program is submitted for approval by NAHQ® 1.5 hours of CPHQ CE credit
